Senior Data Platform Engineer

About the Role

  • Improve and maintain our scalable data platform infrastructure on AWS, K8s, Confluent Cloud and Snowflake, ensuring high availability and reliability for all data consumers across the organization
  • Collaborate closely with data engineers, analysts, and product teams to understand their needs and continuously improve the platform's usability and self-service capabilities
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, ensuring our cloud environments are reproducible, auditable, and well-documented
  • Operate and improve our data platform by optimizing workloads for performance, cost-efficiency, and resilience
  • Build and refine CI/CD pipelines (GitLab) to enable fast, safe, and automated deployments across the data platform
  • Evaluate and introduce new technologies and best practices to keep our data platform modern, secure, and future-proof
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and technical documentation, sharing knowledge within the team and across the organization
  • Implement and maintain comprehensive observability and monitoring (Datadog), creating actionable alerts and dashboards to proactively detect and resolve issues
  • Participate in the team's on-call duty schedule

About You

  • Strong data architecture experience, with a proven track record of solving complex data challenges in large or multi-team organizations
  • The right cultural fit: a genuine desire to help colleagues, a focus on delivering the right solution over the fast one, and comfort with frequent context switching
  • Strong Kafka knowledge from architecture and a developer's perspective, enabling hands-on support for application developers and contributing to our infrastructure
  • Extensive experience with scalable data platforms in complex environments, including ownership of platform-critical applications
  • End-to-end infrastructure ownership — CI/CD (GitLab), observability & monitoring (Datadog) — with the ability to create meaningful, actionable monitors
  • Solid Terraform knowledge to confidently navigate, maintain, and contribute to our infrastructure-as-code codebase
  • On-call experience and a clear mindset that critical issues don't follow business hours
  • Solid experience with a Cloud Provider (preferably AWS)
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes
  • Fluent in English, with strong technical communication skills adaptable to diverse audiences.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Snowflake or comparable cloud data warehouse solutions (e.g., Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift)
  • Network/Security knowledge (e.g. SSO, SAML, VPCs, network policies, EntraID)
  • Previous experience working in a central or shared data platform team
  • Exposure to or interest in AI/ML workloads on data platforms
