Product Designer
About the role
Only four years after entering the market, Mondu is one of Europe’s leading B2B payments providers. Now live across 30+ markets, trusted by ambitious companies, and operating with an EMI license, we’re expanding our commercial footprint in Europe and beyond.
To support our Product Management efforts, we are now looking for a Product Designer who lives at the intersection of high-end design aesthetics and technical innovation. The ideal candidate will own the end-to-end journey of specific product domains - from deep-dive discovery and user research, to high-fidelity prototyping and developer handoff. You will work in a cross-functional team alongside Product, Sales, Strategy and Engineering, to turn complex regulatory requirements into elegant, effortless experiences.
What you’ll do
- End-To-End Ownership: As the sole designer, manage the entire design process: mapping user journeys, wireframing, creating seamless workflows, and building interactive prototypes in Figma across our suite of data-heavy products and solutions.
- Engineering Collaboration & Design QA: Work closely with the engineering team from final hand-off through development. You will perform thorough Design QA to ensure all shipped features match your designs and maintain a high standard of quality.
- Data-Informed Iteration: Partner directly with the Product Team to review A/B test results, usage data, and session recordings (e.g., PostHog/Metabase) to identify friction points and iterate on live features and possible improvements.
- Marketing & Brand Support: Assist the Marketing team by creating digital visuals and marketing materials, ensuring Mondu’s brand remains cohesive and impactful across all touchpoints.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work directly with cross-functional stakeholders, presenting your concepts and advocating for design choices using clear, data-driven logic.
- Design for Trust: Create intuitive onboarding and verification flows that simplify "Know Your Customer" (KYC) processes while maintaining transparency and security.
- Evolve the Design System: Maintain and update our shared component library in Figma, ensuring a cohesive visual language across our products and platforms.
- Champion Accessibility: Ensure all designs comply with WCAG guidelines and EAA (European Accessibility Act) standards, making our financial products accessible to everyone.
- AI-Driven Workflows: Look for opportunities to integrate AI tools into your design lifecycle, optimizing your solo workflow for tasks like generating assets or accelerating layout testing.
What you need to succeed
- Experience: 5+ years of professional experience as a Product Designer, ideally within FinTech, B2B SaaS, or a similarly complex regulated industry.
- Design Mindset: You understand that "simple" is hard. You have a track record of taking complex financial workflows and making them scannable and actionable.
- Tooling: Expert-level proficiency in Figma (variables, auto-layout, and advanced prototyping). Familiarity with AI-assisted design tools is a plus.
- Strategic Thinking: You don’t just take orders; you ask "why." You can articulate the business impact of your design decisions to stakeholders.
- Communication: Excellent English communication skills.
- Start-up vibe: Experience working at speed, building the plane while already flying.
It would be a plus if you also:
- Have experience with Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator and Photoshop) to further support visual and marketing requests.
- Prior experience not just using, but actively building, scaling, or managing comprehensive design systems.
