Backend Developer (English B2) (f/m/d)
Einleitung
We are looking for new colleagues! Migrando is a legal tech company from Cottbus. We have made it our mission to make the complicated and lengthy process of naturalization more efficient and customer-friendly. With our expertise in immigration law, our legal competence and a strong team of numerous employees, we successfully guide thousands of clients on their path to German citizenship. Best take a look at migrando(.)de/karriere, our careers page, right away. Because we can write whatever we want here, in the end it remains a boring introduction.
We don't care what certificates you have or where you studied. What interests us: What can you really do? Someone who has worked in practice for years and gathered hands-on experience brings more to the table than any course completion. If you are curious, don't shy away from responsibility and are eager to continuously develop yourself, we want to get to know you.
Why us?
At us, you carry real responsibility for the technical foundation that everything is built on. No isolated ticket processing, you actively shape from the start how our systems function and communicate.
Your mission
As a Backend Developer at Migrando you build the technical foundations on which our entire ecosystem runs. Our platform consists of several portals, tools and automations that are used by thousands of users every day. You work closely with frontend, design, SEO and automation and ensure that our systems run stably, securely and performantly. Whether clean logic in WordPress, work with the HubSpot API, automations in N8N or performant databases in Supabase, you develop solutions that function and can scale in the long run.
- API integration & interface building
You connect external services such as CRM systems, payment providers or marketing tools, build REST endpoints and ensure secure, reliable data exchange.
- Development of new features
You build server-side logic and new functions, from small plugins to complex modules for our WordPress instances.
- Collaboration with frontend
You coordinate closely with the frontend team, deliver the appropriate endpoints, support with deployment and think through technical improvements together.
- WordPress development
You program custom functions for product logic, checkout, order processes or customer areas.
- Database management
You maintain and optimize databases, structure tables sensibly, improve queries and keep our data structures clean and performant. Whether our website database or a Supabase database with internal data.
- Performance optimization
You work on better load times (cloud or local network), query optimizations, caching strategies and an overall faster server architecture.
- Automation & background processes
You develop cron jobs, automated data processing, N8N or HubSpot workflows and background processes that make our daily operations more efficient.
- Further development of internal tools
You work on small services, modules and helper processes that move our platform and team forward technically.
- HubSpot development
You engage with developer tools in HubSpot and take care of a smooth connection into our existing ecosystem.
- Evaluation of new technologies
You are eager to try out new tools, frameworks or modern WordPress architectures (e.g. headless approaches) and bring them into the team.
Your profile
Degrees and certificates don't matter to us, what matters is that you know your craft and have gathered practical experience in backend development. You know how to build interfaces, optimize databases and write code that not only performs, but is also understood by others. If you don't shy away from responsibility and are eager to actively help shape a technical ecosystem, we look forward to getting to know you.
- Solid experience in backend development
You feel at home in the backend and enjoy developing functions that run reliably, are cleanly structured and can be easily extended.
- PHP skills
You are familiar with modern PHP development, feel comfortable with OOP and basic patterns and know where things stand today.
- Working with WordPress
You know how themes and plugins are structured, perhaps even work with hooks and feel at home in the WP ecosystem.
- Confident handling of databases
You can plan and use database structures sensibly. You know best practices and feel comfortable working with databases.
- Clean, well-structured code
Readability and architecture are not nice-to-haves for you. You write code that others can still understand in six months, including yourself.
- Experience in the API area
You have already worked with REST or comparable interfaces and know how to integrate and authorize services and possibly create your own endpoints.
- Security focus
You know typical vulnerabilities and know how to protect against them (in our case: website vulnerabilities, our internal tools are only available within the network).
- Data protection understanding
We work with sensitive customer data. We expect an awareness of secure storage and processing of this data.
- Openness to new things
You are eager to familiarize yourself with new tools or frameworks and to develop yourself professionally.
- Sense of responsibility
You also think about scalability, data integrity and long-term maintainability in your work. "Quick and dirty" can occasionally be acceptable, but that needs to be agreed upon.
- Easy communication
You are communicative and open. We don't really want to write generic things here, but this point is important. Good collaboration is just as important to us as pure know-how. A colleague who is pleasant and smooth to work with can be more valuable in everyday life than someone with more experience but sluggish communication.
- English or German
You speak English, German or ideally both (around B2 level). Don't worry, we don't require proof of language proficiency.
