Senior UX Designer (UI & Research) (m/w/d)

We are currently looking for a Senior UX Designer (UI & Research) on a freelance basis for one of our end clients in Berlin.
Tasks:
**Research**
- Plan, conduct and document agreed UX research activities based on defined research objectives.
- Prepare and facilitate agreed workshop formats and document the resulting findings and recommendations (e.g. on-site observations, focus groups, surveys as per agreed scope).
- Create personas and experience maps through user research and data
- Perform a UX Audit to review the existing platform
**Workshops & UX Design**
- Prepare, facilitate and document agreed ideation workshops with designated contact persons and user representatives of the Contracting Authority
- Identify business processes and use cases, define and formalize user journeys or make recommendations for improvement to existing journeys
- Create storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas
- Present ideas, concepts and design solutions to various stakeholders
- Design user flows and wireframes based on standards and best practices.
**UI Design**
- Use the Figma design system provided by the Contracting Authority, realize wireframes, prototypes and final UI Design
- Iterate prototypes based on validated research and feedback.
- Provide documented design concepts and prototypes to UI Designers and Developers
- Produce final UI Design in the Nova design system components and tokens (provided by the Contracting Authority).
- Provide a developer-ready handover via Dev Mode.
- Deliver documentation for user flows, interaction logic, and component behaviour.
**Consulting activities**
- The contractor shall provide design-related input through defined project interfaces and agreed review formats. Participation in internal team ceremonies is not part of the service, unless required for specific deliverable-related coordination.
- Present concepts and design solutions to stakeholders.
- Prepare documentation enabling the Contracting Authority to further use and maintain the delivered UX/UI artefacts
Requirements:
- Proven UI design experience in complex, workflow-driven or data-heavy applications
- Demonstrated experience in conducting user tests and iterating designs based on insights
- Expert proficiency in Figma, including design systems, components, variables, and Dev Mode
- A minimum of 7 years' experience in UI Design, Interaction Design, Design Thinking and Information Architecture in an Agile development environment
- 7 years expertise of qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Experience in validating designs, and iterating based on measurable insights
- Experience gathering user feedback, validating designs, and iterating based on measurable insights
- Demonstrated experience in producing user flows, interaction models, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI using system standards
- Solid understanding of information architecture, interaction patterns, and simplifying complexity through clear design
- Experience in creating structured UX/UI documentation, including user flows, interaction logic, design decisions and developer-ready handover documentation
- Demonstrated experience in using Figma, including components, variables, tokens and Dev Mode, proven through comparable project references or portfolio examples
- Proficient in Miro
- Ability to deliver defined UX/UI artefacts independently based on agreed requirements, demonstrated through comparable project references or portfolio examples
- Experience in energy, infrastructure or comparable regulated environments is an advantage
- Ability to use the research tools Condens and UXTweak is a big plus
