Senior System Administrator / Corporate IT Engineer (m/w/d) (Munich)

For our client – an innovative Silicon Valley deep-tech company – we are seeking hands-on freelance support. The company develops next-generation microLED technologies for Augmented Reality (AR) and AI smart glasses, aiming to redefine display performance and mass production. On-site in Munich, a multidisciplinary, international team of innovators awaits you, working at the intersection of light and immersive computing. Take this opportunity to shape tomorrow's display technologies. As the primary IT Contact (f/m/d) for the Munich location, you will play a key role. You will manage local end-user support, drive infrastructure expansion, and collaborate with the US IT team to establish scalable, global standards. Working with local teams, engineering, and global IT, you will ensure a secure, stable technology experience. This project offers an ideal mix of operational ownership and international collaboration. Project Details:

  • Start: ASAP
  • Location: Munich (2-4 days per Week on site)
  • Workload: 80-100% (4-5 days per Week)
  • Languages: English and German

Tasks

  • End-User Support: Provide onsite and remote IT support for macOS and Windows users, including executive support and senior-level escalation.
  • Hardware & AV: Configure, deploy, and support laptops, workstations, mobile devices, peripherals, and conference room technology.
  • Lifecycle Management: Manage onboarding/offboarding processes, including account provisioning, hardware deployment, and access management.
  • Application Admin: Administer and support Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, Zoom, Slack, Box, Druva, CrowdStrike, and other critical apps.
  • Identity & Access: Assist with Okta identity and access management (SSO, MFA, user provisioning, lifecycle management).
  • MDM & Endpoint Management: Manage endpoints via JAMF and Microsoft Intune, handling provisioning, compliance, software patching, and decommissioning.
  • Automation: Develop, maintain, and automate standardized Windows and macOS deployments using modern device management tools.
  • Asset & Compliance: Maintain accurate asset inventory, endpoint lifecycle records, and IT documentation while meeting patching and security standards.
  • Network Support: Support Cisco Meraki environments (firewalls, switches, wireless APs, VLANs, CloudRadius, VPN, and troubleshooting).
  • Global Collaboration: Act as the primary IT liaison for Germany, collaborating with US IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders on infrastructure projects and office buildouts.

Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or a related technical role
  • Strong experience supporting macOS and Windows environments
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, Zoom, Slack, and other collaboration platforms
  • Familiarity with identity and access management platforms such as Okta, including SSO and MFA
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base articles
  • Fluent in German and English with strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt quickly in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across departments and global teams
